Nintendo Switch 2 hits $499.99 on September 1 — official US price revision
Nintendo of America has confirmed the number everyone expected after Japan moved first: beginning September 1, 2026, the Nintendo Switch 2 MSRP in the United States rises from $449.99 to $499.99. Original Switch hardware pricing is unchanged. Latin America pricing arrives later.

A synchronized console inflation year
Europe moves to €499.99, Canada to C$679.99, and Australia/New Zealand follow on the same September 1 date. Japan already revised domestic hardware on May 25. President Shuntaro Furukawa has publicly cited memory component costs, exchange rates, and oil prices — the same cocktail Valve just used for Steam Deck OLED.
Retailers and scalper Discords (and yes, the usual r/NintendoSwitch2 threads) are already treating August 31 as a soft deadline. Bundle SKUs and retailer exclusives may muddy the street price, but Nintendo’s MSRP signal is clear: $450 Switch 2 was a launch window, not a generation promise.
What players should do
If you want the current MSRP, buy before September 1 from authorized retail. If you are waiting for a Mario-driven holiday bundle, price the $50 delta against whatever first-party attach you actually want — Nintendo rarely discounts the new hardware itself in year one.
